Why Support Summit?

Tuition alone does not cover the full expense for a student to attend The Summit School. As an independent school and nonprofit organization, Summit operates without the financial support of local or federal taxes. Unlike most independent schools, families do not plan for their child to have a learning difference so many families do not financially plan for the tuition.

Summit relies on the generosity of our community to make up the gap between expenses and revenue from tuition and fees. Fundraising efforts help contribute to a full educational experience for our students. Multiple opportunities for giving are provided throughout the year to enable each family to make a gift when it is best for them.

Every gift has an impact. A high level of family participation in fundraising efforts shows support from within and therefore directly endorses our school when applying for grants and support from foundations and private corporations.

Annual Fund

The Summit Annual Fund enhances all aspects of the transformational experience you and your child will have at Summit. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide the critical, current-use, unrestricted dollars our school needs to provide an excellent student experience and support our areas of greatest need. The annual fund is our top fundraising priority, and is the one fundraiser we ask EVERY Summit family to support. Your annual fund contribution allows The Summit School to:
• Hire and retain quality teachers and faculty
• Maintain small classroom sizes to ensure each student receives individualized instruction
• Invest in cutting-edge, age-appropriate technology
• Promote educational innovation
• Maintain a clean and safe campus through building maintenance

Scholarship Fund

Contributing to the Scholarship Fund enables you to make a HUGE difference, one child at a time. For the child who struggles with reading, writing, math, and organization, a Summit education can make the difference between a lifetime of failure or one of success. Many families who wish to send their child to Summit cannot afford the tuition and are unable to enroll. Every year, about 30-40% of our families receive financial assistance, with more in need. We hope to sustain and
grow the fund, so any child who needs our specialized program can enroll.

Endowment Fund

The Endowment fund is the school’s investment fund, our safety net for the future. It is a permanent fund that invests the principle and allows only a percentage of earned income to be spent. The Endowment fund is essential to help us strengthen scholarships, improve faculty salaries and benefits, and to restore facilities as needed. Donors may request that their gifts to the endowment be designated as either unrestricted, providing the most flexibility for Summit, or restricted for a particular purpose. Endowment gifts leave a lasting imprint on the future of the school and provide for its students, its faculty, and its facilities for many years to come.

Special Events

Summit’s special events enable us to connect with the community, raise awareness of the resources available and most importantly, build the financial support our students and faculty need to be successful. Sponsorships and participation make these special events possible and are great marketing opportunities for local businesses.
